What have we been up to you ask?

Hi Everyone,

Over the past 4 weeks or so, Mike and I have attended three symposium events that were most informative and gave every POC with phone # and email you could ask for to get started on your trek to conquer and divide. No, there are not many upcoming contract opportunities and companies vying for the same ones, but hope was offered and new friends were made.

The Tennessee Valley Chapter of the Army Aviation Association of America (AAAA)  sponsored the 40th Annual Joseph P. Cribbins Aviation Product Symposium supporting logistics & acquisition communities on February 12-13, 2014. The theme of this year’s symposium was “Sustaining Excellence in a Time of Transition.” We enjoyed meeting the exhibitors from all over the world, displaying the newest in technology for our warfighters. I met Tim Walker with Selex Galileo Inc.,  a U.S. subsidiary of Selex ES, a leader in defense electronics for programs such as the U.S. Army apache program & the Joint Strike Fighter Platform. Tim is open to talk about synergistic opportunities so contact him if you have a keen interest in what they are doing.

Mike and I also attended the AUSA Winter Symposium & Exposition Feb. 19-21 at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville, AL. This was a much larger attended event with 200 plus companies complete with the most modern product/service booths, pleasing to the eye and loaded with goodies, freebies, couches and information. Energy technologies, power supply and battery solutions were a large part as well as the portable command posts which are vital to the warfighter and even the Red Cross / FEMA phen375 scam in the event of natural emergencies. I met Nate Hobbs with EaglePicher Technologies LLC, Joplin, MO. As an engineer and designer of EP’s free standing portable power supply station, he answered all our questions and can be reached at 417.623.8000 or email: inquiry.technologies@eaglepicher.com. The  Redstone Arsenal was present and spoke to their mission, vision, focus on the Joint Warfighter and strategic impact due to the arsenal assets. The Army Materiel command centered on how to partner with the AMC installation that suits your needs. Ms. Ruby Price has put together a terrific manual that walks you through each step. She can be reached at 256.450.7128 or email: ruby.m.price.civ@mail.mil.

Thirdly, we attended the APBI which is the Army’s approach to enlightening the eager businesses on upcoming contracts in the near future. This was a disappointment and was more of an informative talk by each head mostly informational. Needless to say, the spotlight on upcoming money contracts was next to nil. I heard a tad on the EAGLE vehicle “possibly” having opportunities for newbies in 5 years. It was a weak strike at delivering hope for the hungry. I do commend NASA on a colorful slide show updating their three very cool projects to include the James Webb Telescope and the newest project to build a man rated aircraft- exciting!!!!
