Yes, Mike & I attended the fabulous 50th anniversary of The Paris Le Bourget Air Show and what a treat!
Sunday evening launched our week by attending the Alabama Delegation Reception at the Place des Invalides. Gov. Bentley spoke to a crowd of economic development leaders admonishing them to remain focused and work hard for the state of Alabama. Mike and I had a few moments alone with Gov. Bentley that made the evening very special.
Withstanding 100 degrees, raging humidity and thunderstorms, hour long waits for taxis, train, bus, sore dogs and thirsty throats— thousands of aviation enthusiasts from every country came to see the spectacular show in the sky, my favorite being the daredevil maneuvers by the Sukhoi Su-35S Russian fighter. This unmatchable roaring aircraft is an augmented 4th generation of a Soviet designed fighter jet. Test pilot Sergei Bogdan demonstrated dynamic barrel rolls, flying direct lender payday loans no teletrack upside down and a deceleration stunt called the “falling leaf” mode as we all held our breath. Loud and fun to watch, check it out!http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=VOM6cxWwt7E#t=0s
By day three of the Paris Air Show, the 100 billion mark in aircraft orders had been reached! Ryanair, a Dublin-based discount regional carrier ordered 175 Boeing 737-800s worth 15.6 billion & Airbus received the 2nd largest order from Air France-KLM for 25 of its A350-900s for 7.2 billion. United Air placed a large order with Airbus, the wide bodied plane rivaling Boeingâs new age 787 Dreamliner and other popular 777 models.
EADS Airbus âowned the skyâ at the 50th annual Paris Air Show 2013 with deals totaling over $70 billion worth of business & 466 aircraft which shows the resilience of the commercial aviation industry.
All in all, Mike & I had an outstanding visit to France and look forward to our next. The people of Paris were gracious hosts, Merci!
Bonne nuit sweet Paris, I will miss all of you minus the foie gras de canard (Ãa ne me plaît pas )  Désolé !
